Start with the reasoning frame, then use the article and sample item to see how it works.
- In the FSMTB regulated-state table, 46 of the 50 listed states or jurisdictions show MBLEx Accepted as Yes
- California and Vermont show No Exam Required; Hawaii and New York show State Exam
- Kansas, Minnesota, and Wyoming do not appear in that regulated-state table, so local or state rules still need review
MBLEx is an exam requirement, not the final license
MBLEx is often called a massage licensing exam, but it is more precise to treat it as one exam requirement that many state licensing paths use.
The legal permission to practice comes from the state license or registration process. The MBLEx result is usually one piece of that review.
When to check carefully
If your target state shows Yes in the FSMTB table, MBLEx is usually a sensible exam to prioritize, but education hours, approved school rules, fees, documents, and score reporting still matter.
If the table shows State Exam or No Exam Required, do not start with MBLEx by default. Open the state board page first.
If your location is not listed, that does not mean there are no rules. State-level regulation, local ordinances, or other credential paths may apply.
Sample item
I plan to work in New York. Should I prioritize MBLEx first?
- Yes, because every state uses the same exam.
- Check New York rules first because FSMTB lists New York as State Exam.
- No exam requirements ever apply.
- Decide only by income data.
Explanation:New York appears as State Exam in the FSMTB regulated-state table. Check the state board path before choosing a prep plan.
