Find the risk words
Start with the reasoning frame, then use the article and sample item to see how it works.
- Acute, infection, fever, and open wound often point to safety first
- Chronic, stable, and history should be judged with current symptoms
- The exam may ask you to avoid a local area, modify technique, postpone, or refer
Risk words guide the response
MBLEx does not expect a massage therapist to diagnose, but it does test risk recognition.
When a stem includes acute, infectious, fever, or open wound information, think safety and contraindication before technique.
Not every pathology word leads to the same answer
Some situations call for local avoidance, others for postponement, and others for pressure or position modification.
The answer depends on the risk range, current symptoms, and task word.
